Chewing on ice in this hot summer will definitely relieve some heat.

But if you are feeling a compulsion to have ice,

even if you are not thirsty,

and if it is happening too frequently,

then it is your craving for ice.


Your ice craving can be an indication for your IRON DEFICIENCY!

And iron deficiency leads to anemia.

Some of the gastrointestinal symptoms of ANEMIA are :

  • Sore tongue
  • dry mouth
  • altered sense of taste and
  • mouth sore

All these symptoms may be better by chewing ice.

Hence, you crave for ice.

There are many foods that can help you to raise your iron level naturally.

You can make roti out of bajra floor,

you can saute broken bajra in butter milk and have it in summer.

  • pudina raita (cut pudina add salt roasted jeera powder and curd to it )
  • pudina chatni
  • can add pudina in lemon juice


It is commonly use during fasting.

You can add rajgira flour in wheat flour to make roti or paratha.

Also, rajigira sheera, a sweet dish.
