It was a big hit when it was first
introduced in the market.
I remember my mother being
very much excited about it.
She really used to live it!
It is called -Non Stick and
everyone who would cook would love it for
2 major benefits of non-stick cookware-
- You need less oil to cook
- They are easier to clean
However, this convenience comes with a price of your health.
Non-stick cookware are non-stick because, they have a
special coating which prevents oil from getting stick to the cook ware.
Now we know that his coating is made up of toxic chemicals.
Your non-stick pans are coated with
poly and perfluoroalkyl substances.
When you heat them, these fluorinated chemicals are
converted to Perfluorooctanoic acid [PFOA].
This PFOA is having many health hazards like-
- Thyroid disease
- Increased risk of miscarriage up to 16 times
and many more……
As the awareness about the health hazard of
PFOA and Teflon is increasing,
recently some manufacturers claim to have
non-stick which are free of PFOA.
The fact is- they have just replaced PFOA
with few other new substances.
And, they are equally toxic!!
