Are you using hair colors & its shampoos? Beware….

You are living in modern world with all new products and their easy

availability. But are you aware that your body comes

in contact with numerous toxic chemicals every day? Some

you ingest, some you apply on your skin to protect it. But does it really

protect your skin? You are expose to many toxic chemicals coming

from various product you are using. But today

we will discuss about your hair colours and its shampoos.

They contain – SLS ( sodium lauryl sulphate)

It is a toxic chemical which causes many health hazards like:

  • Male and female infertility:

Difficulty in conceiving,

problem can be on both side either males or females, as

it disturbs your hormone levels.

  •  Loss of memory:

This does not mean that you will forget everything. But I have come across many

patients saying me that “now a days I’m forgetting the name of person or name of

street or name of famous personality”. So, this can be the beginning.

  • Fatigue:

Along with the other reasons, it can be also

due to the effect of this toxic chemical.

  • Thinning of skin:

Aging could be the primary reason for

thinning of your skin. But you must have seen even

many young complaining of early thinning of skin, causing more irritation.

And once your skin gets thin, piercing of this chemical become easier and

slowly it can affect your vital systems. Causing –

  • Loss of vision
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Stomach upset
  • Anxiety

Besides these there are many other symptoms as this

chemicals affect your endocrine glands and your nervous systems.

The danger of this chemical is based on the level of your exposure. This

chemical is also present in many other products you use daily like your

face wash, face scrub, toothpaste etc. so, it is very much likely that

you are exposed to this chemical daily. In order to fight off

the effect of this chemical, the first thing you need to do is to reduce

its use. And by all means, STOP IF YOU CAN. Secondly, you have to make your

body strong from inside and for this you need to increase the

intake of few vitamins and minerals which help you to fight against this harmful

effects of this chemical.

Vitamins and Minerals that help you to manage the damage of SLS are:


it helps you to retard the DNA damage caused by SLS & it inhibits

the production of carcinogens.

Good vegetarian sources of selenium are:

  • Cauliflower
  • Sunflower seeds &
  • Dry peas.

2)Vitamin C &  vitamin- E:

They protect you against the damage caused by the

oxidative stress caused by SLS.

Good vegetarian sources of vitamin- C are:

  • Raw mango
  • Sprouts and
  • Phalsa

Good vegetarian sources of vitamin -E are

  • Peanuts
  • Walnuts and
  • Almonds

These micronutrients work as the body’s natural detoxifiers, affecting

both the absorption and the excretion of this toxic chemical.
