Male Infertility: Your Food is Your Medicine….
According to the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction,
infertility currently affects about 10-14 % of
the Indian population. In Urban area,
the rates are even higher – one out of
six couple is affected. In every case of infertility,
there is 40-50% chances that the source of the problem
lies with the male partner. There can be
many causes of Male Infertility. In some cases
medical treatment may be necessary. However,
you may get surprised that- male infertility can be a result of
a mineral deficiency. And, that mineral is
‘selenium’. Selenium deficiency reduces sperm mobility. And,
reduced sperm mobility is a major reason for
Male infertility. If you take sufficient amount of
selenium in your diet, that can help you to
increase your sperm motility.
Good natural vegetarian sources of Selenium are:
- Jowar
- Bajra
- Moong
- Dry peas
- Radish leaves and
- Beet greens
Not only that. Selenium act best when
taken with good amount of vitamin E. As vitamin E is
a good antioxidant, it helps to remove
cell damaging factor known as free radicals
from your body. This protect your sperm cells. So,
along with good natural source of selenium,
you need to take sufficient amount of vitamin E as well.
